b. 16 yrs

c. 18 yrs

d. 20 yrs

e. None of these

The solution is given below :

EXPLANATION :

Considering Chris and Paul as brothers, we know Chris is elder by 4 years. So {Chris’s age} – {Paul’s age} = 4.

But we know that the ratios of their ages is 9:7 .

So we can say that if Chris’s ages is 9x then Paul’s age will be 7x.

So we can now write, 9x – 7x = 4.

2x = 4

x= 2.

So this Paul’s ages is 7(2) = 14 yrs.

Since that option is not present, the answer is 14 yrs or (e) None of the above
