Brothers Ages Aptitude Problem

The Brothers Ages Aptitude Problem is as follows :

Question :

Bharath is 5 years elder than Akash who is 4 years elder than Raghu. The sum of their ages is 61. Find the age of  Akash.

Solution :

From the question, it is obvious that Raghu is the youngest brother. Let his age be x.

Now Akash’s age is = x + 4

and Bharaths age is = 5 + Akash’s age = 5 + (x + 4) = x + 9

So sum of all the ages is = x + (x + 4)  + (x + 9) => 3x + 13 = 61.

3x = 61 -13 = 48

Implies , x = 48/3 = 16 :)

This is Raghu’s age. Hence Akash’s age is 16 + 4 = 20 yrs :)

Math Percentage Average Problem

The Math Percentage Average Problem is as follows :

Question

I scored 80 marks in my first internal maths paper. By how much percent should I improve my marks in the second internal in order to get a average of 90 in maths ?

Aptitude Problems Solved

Aptitude Problems Solved

Solution

There are two internals. First internal I got 80 marks. Say my marks in the 2nd internal are ‘x’.

Given that I want 90 as my average, then

90 = (80 +x)/2

Solving for x, you will get x = 100.

So I need to increase my marks by 20.

Since 20 is 25% of 80 marks, the answer is 25% :) :)

If you have a doubt, you can post it here and Ill answer it  😉

Simple Simplification Confusing Problem

The Simple Simplification Confusing Problem is as follows :

Question:

Divide 100 by half, then multiply it with 5 and subtract 20. What is the result ? 😉

Solved Aptitude Problems

Solved Aptitude Problems

Solution :

If you answered 230, then you’re WRONG! 😀 …

No worries, its a very common mistake . Now getting to the solution …

Half is (1/2). So when you divide 100 BY half, it means 100/(1/2) = 100 X 2  = 200.

Now multiply by 5 —> 200 X 5 = 1000

Subtracting 20, we get —> 1000 – 20 = 980 :)

Hence the answer is 980
