Hello Guys .. This question was sent in by our friend Hussain Liyaqat
He had a doubt regarding a sum on Partnerships
The aptitude question is as follows :
Question :
A and B entered a partnership with investments of Rs.15000 and Rs. 40000 respectively. After 3 months, A left from the business. At the same time, C joins with Rs. 30000. At the end of 9 months, they got Rs. 7800 as profit. Find B’s share in it
a). 4800
b). 600
c). 2400
d). 1200
Solution :
Alright now to solve this problem, you need to find the ratios of their investments.
So to do that, find the product of Money Invested X How much Time it is Invested
So now to simplify our calculations a bit, lets divide all the 3 quantities by 1000 { it wont matter, since we are calculating ratios }
So , for A it will be
A = (15 X 3 months) = 45
B = (40 X 9 months) = 360
C = (30 X 6 months) = 180
So if you add it up … 45 + 360 + 180 = 585
So now we can say that, If the profit is divided into 585 parts, then A gets 45 parts or (45/585) of it. B gets 360 parts or (360/585) of it and Similarly C gets 180 parts or (180/585) of it
Hence since B’s share is asked, we can say that B’s share of the profit is
B’s Share of Profit = (360/585) X 7800 = 4800
Hence the answer is (a) 4800
Hope you’re doubt is now cleared Hussain
