The Scooter Gain Percent Problem is as follows :
Garry bought a 2nd hand scooter for Rs. 4700 and he spent an additional Rs. 800 on repairs. Suppose he now sells the scooter for Rs. 5800, what will his gain percentage be ?
a). 4 (4/7) %
b). 5 (5/11) %
c). 10 %
d). 12 %
The answer is given below
Solution :
Whenever you want to find out gain percentages, find the complete investment by the individual
Here in this case, Garry not only spent 4700 Rs buying the 2nd hand scooter but also had to pay 800 Rs more on repairs.
So basically toward the end he spent : 4700 + 800 = 5500.
When he sells the scooter for 5800 Rs, he makes a 300 Rs profit
Mind you, it is 300 Rs on 5500
So your gain percentage will be (300/5500) = 5(5/11)
Hence the answer is (b) 5(5/11) %
